Some recent thoughts on life and alcohol

All you fellas open those sleepy eyes
Eyelids still half dipped in brandy or rum
still smelling the poison of your choice
Wakeup for the saturday sunshine has come

Smothered by the blanketed sky
The dark whispers of the night
Slowly unravels life’s mysteries
The golden poison inside the glass
Its lascivious call has my name
It is saturday night my friends
And I am ready for the next half………

The Red wine winked at her from the bottle
Sweetened her lips with every drop
Erased bitter memories with each gulp
He moved closer and whispered in her ears
It is over sweetheart, This is a new start
He pulled her closer to him again
His lips sensed the sweetness in hers

Dark, twisted and ripe with a bitter reality. How many look forward to spending their weekend in the bottom of bottle so desperate to drown out life and yet call it living?  Excellent write.

Wow. You capture the essence of alcoholism/addiction quite well! Excellent line: “eyelids still half dipped in brandy or rum”.
