588 Rue Paradis was the first movie I watched of Richard Berry, and what a pleasant experience it was. The film had on its title cover the picture of Omar Sharif who I am fan since Mackenna’s Gold and I have watched him in awe in Doctor Zivago, Monsieur Ibrahim and many others.
Omar Sharif for me is one of the finest actors and it is always a pleasure watching his movies. Though 588 Rue Paradis has Omar Sharif in the movie the story revolves around Richard Berry who is also the main character in the movie.
The movie is said to be semi autobiographical, written and directed by French – Armenian filmmaker Henri Verneuil. The movie is about Pierre Zakhar played by Richard Berry a theatre director and his relation with his mother Araxi or Mayrig (Mother) as Pierre calls her.
A well crafted movie… not often do you land on a movie that really makes you love the art form so much…I highly recommend this movies and as always I don’t wish to share more details on the plot as it is will kill the fun of watching.
